These By-laws govern the structure and operation of the Italian Financial Economist Association (“IFEA”), a non-profit organization.
ARTICLE I. PURPOSE
The goal of this Association is to foster the exchange of ideas among (Italian) Financial Economists by:
Facilitating the exchange of ideas among financial economists living abroad and in Italy.
Mentoring of junior Italian financial economists and PhD students.
Aiding the professional development of the Associations’ members.
Organizing an annual conference in Italy, rotating among Italian universities and research centers.
ARTICLE II. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP
There will be two classes of membership:
Scholars
Students
Section 2. MEMBERSHIP
Any scholar working in financial economics is eligible to become a new member of the IFEA.
One can request to become a member at any time by filling out the membership request form.
The membership is free of charge and does not expire.
Section 3. TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP
Members can resign by submitting an email of resignation to the Association’s official email (itafinecon@gmail.com)
The Board of Directors has the right to terminate membership for misconduct. The IFEA adheres to the AFA code of professional conduct.
Section 4. MEETINGS OF THE MEMBERS
The regular annual meeting of the members shall be held during the annual Conference or at a time and place to be determined by the Board of Directors. The yearly meeting notification shall be emailed thirty days before its date. At any meeting, members in good standing present shall constitute a quorum.
Section 5. VOTING RIGHTS
Each professional member shall be entitled to one vote on any issue submitted to a vote by members.
Section 6. STUDENT AFFILIATES
Students can request to become affiliates at any time by filling out the membership request form.
Student affiliates may be granted privileges as determined by the Board of Directors.
ARTICLE III. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Section 1. BOARD COMPOSITION AND TENURE
The Board of Directors shall comprise seven members, each serving a two-year term. Three members of the first Board serve a three-year term to create a staggered board.
Directors can serve more than one term.
Section 2. BOARD ELECTION
Candidates for the Board are proposed by the current Board and are elected by the vote of all members.
Candidates who obtain the most votes are elected. In case of a tie, the Board has the right to decide whether a member is elected.
Section 3. BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Board include choosing locations and organizers of the next conferences and managing the current affairs of the IFEA.
Directors shall serve without compensation for any services they rendered to the IFEA in their capacity as board members.
No director shall be personally liable for any of the debts, liabilities, or obligations of the IFEA.

ARTICLE IV. ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Section 1. TIMING AND ORGANIZATION
The Association’s Conference will be held once a year.
Members of the Association can submit papers for consideration. A call for papers will be distributed ahead of the Conference.
Section 2. CONFERENCE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
The Board will choose the Organizing Committee for the Conference.
The Organizing Committee is responsible for selecting the Reviewers among the association members and choosing the papers on the program based on the Reviewers’ input.
The Committee also decides on the conference logistics and social events.
ARTICLE V. AMENDMENTS
Section 1. AMENDAMENTS PROCEDURE
Each Board member can propose to amend these by-laws.
The Board approves amendments with a unanimous vote.
